Memory Eternal

Updated: Feb 7, 2022

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,

with great sorrow and pain in our heart, we would like to inform you about the untimely passing in the Lord of our brother in Christ, Gregory Anstine.

The servant of God, Gregory Anthony Anstine was born on January 11, 2002 in York, PA.

He reposed in the Lord on February 4, 2022 after a tragic hiking accident. He was a Sophomore Business Management major at Bloomsburg University where he consistently achieved The Dean’s List. He is 2020 graduate of West York Area High School where he was a member of the Soccer Team and Volleyball Team where he was Co-Captain. He was a member of the National Honor Society, The Top 20 of the Class of 2020, and earned scholarships from the West York Foundation and Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Greg was an active member of the Annunciation Community where he faithfully served as an alter boy for 10 years and was a tonsured reader. He held various leadership positions in the church’s youth group (GOYA) including president. Greg was an enthusiastic Greek Food Festival volunteer and helped to run the church’s bookstore. He was a Regional, Pittsburgh Metropolis, and National finalist in the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival. He worked at the Olive Garden and most recently at Howe Wood Products. He loved the outdoors, music, food, and traveling. Greg was committed to his family and his Orthodox faith. He was a hard worker, who had the courage of his convictions, and was a loyal friend.

Please have him in your prayers and his grieving family.

We will pray for the repose of his soul every day until Pascha (serving the Trisagion service) and serve the Divine Liturgy every Saturday from 9 am.

We believe in the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and we know that we will meet each other in His bosom one day.

May his memory be eternal and may he rest with the Saints.

We will follow up with more details regarding the funeral arrangements.
