Lazarus, Come Forth!

“Lazarus, come forth!” (John 11:43). In the one who possesses Martha—that is, all-encompassing virtue—and Mary, who sits at the feet of Jesus—that is, a careful and fervent turning to the Lord with the whole heart—the Lord Himself will come and raise his Lazarus, that is, his spirit, loosing it from all the bonds of soul and body.

Then a truly new life will begin in him: in the body—yet not according to the flesh, and on earth—yet not earthly. This will be a true resurrection in the spirit, before the future resurrection of the body.
